Livingstone is the tourist capital of Zambia and that’s not hard to believe considering how much there is to see and do all within one town. Here is a 3 day jam packed itinerary for an amazing adventurous visit to Livingstone.
Day 1- Be Adventurous
Tour of Victoria Falls in the morning, which takes about an one and half hours. Following the tour, head over to the Royal Livingstone Hotel. If you have time, enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck overlooking Livingstone Island.
At 12:30pm, take the boat across to Livingstone Island for a tour, where you can look over the edge of the waterfall. If you dare, take a plunge into the Devil's Pool or Angel's Pool, where you are just steps from the edge of the falls. Following an adventurous tour, enjoy a late lunch on the island which is paired with delicious South African wine.
You will return to the Royal Livingstone at 3:00pm. After lunch, you can really get in close to the falls by taking a helicopter over the falls or be even more adventurous by taking a micro flight over the falls.
Day 2- Experience with the locals
Take an early morning tour of Tongabezi School and visit a local village to see how the local Zambians live.
Following the tour of the village, head into Livingstone to visit one of the many local markets where you can pick up handmade souvenirs from the local people.
After the market, enjoy lunch at your hotel and head out on a late afternoon canoe down the Zambezi River.
Day 3- Safari time
Chobe National Park is just a couple hours from Livingstone where you can spend the day on a river safari filled with sites of hippos, elephants, and more.
Where to Stay
Tongabezi is located just 25 minutes from the falls and right on the Zembezi River. A unique boutique lodge featuring cottages, treehouses, private islands and houses for larger families and groups.
