Five Ways to Make Your Fall Wedding Unique

There's a reason fall weddings are so popular.

Foliage hues and harvest accents always create a warm, romantic, and inviting atmosphere-- it's almost as if fall was created for romance!

We know you are looking for that extra "something" to set your wedding apart from the rest.

So, how can you have a classic fall wedding and avoid being "typical"?

Here are 5 great ways to make your fall wedding stand out!

1. Switch up the colors!

Couples commonly fall for only using earth tones and warm browns for their Fall wedding. Yes, these colors are the trademark of Fall, but no need to limit your color choices! You can switch it up by incorporating bright splashes of apple red, bright yellow, or glamorous gold.

Combinations I especially love are navy blue and gold or deep plum and apricot orange. Some other amazing fall color combos are: light pink and brown, tangerine orange and green, or cranberry and bold fuchsia. Of course, if you're set on chocolate browns and burnt oranges, they can definitely work but make sure they aren't the only colors dominating the scene; use them as a "base" instead.

2. Enjoy the Outdoors

Myth busted: not all fall weddings have to be indoors! Yes, even East Coast, MidWest, and NorCal couples can pull off an outdoor wedding in the fall. By having an earlier wedding, you can avoid the cooler temperatures after sunset. Also, proper heating installations can really help fight the cold-- I am always so impressed by how much warmth they give off!

You can also have bridesmaids pass out pashminas for the ladies just in case they get a bit chilly. Plus, if you make sure to note your wedding will be outside on your invitations, guests will come prepared for a possible chill. If you still don't think these tips will keep your guests warm, you can do an outdoor/indoor combo. The ceremony can take place outside and then guests can move inside for a tented reception.

Outdoor fall weddings are rare and worth it! The great outdoors will serve as a stunning backdrop for pictures and most of all, you will really stand out for pulling off an outdoor wedding in the fall!

3. Play it up

While we definitely want to stay away from replicating typical fall trends, if we play some of them up just right your wedding will make a splash. Apples are a definite fall staple so why not incorporate them in a creative and unique way? Instead of the usual candy station, try an Apple Candy station where guests can choose the toppings. You can also incorporate an apple picking theme into photo shoots. Rustic apple wagons and dainty baskets could make for some really charming photos!

4. Chic it up!

I guarantee pumpkins will be at every fall wedding you attend this season...and for good reason! Pumpkins are cute and quaint ways to decorate and capture the essence of fall. However, if you want to stand out, try painting or monograming the pumpkins and chic-ing them up a bit! They can serve as beautiful decorations around the Sign-In table or even line the isle.

5. Have a "Wishing Tree"

Since fall is all about trees, why not make your own? Wishing Trees are a Dutch wedding tradition where guests can share their wishes, advice, and love with the new couple. Put a fall spin on this by making the leaves "maple" leaves and hanging them with raffia ribbon or even strips of burlap. When the special day is over, you can incorporate the leaves into your wedding book and reflect on the advice and good wishes shared by friends and family.
