Best Mountains to Ski + Snowboard in the Pacific Northwest

Ski and snowboard season is upon us, which means we are planning trips up into the mountains to play in the beautiful white stuff we call snow. Since I am about to head back up to Washington to see the family for Christmas, I thought it only fitting to share some of my favorite slopes to hit {these are in order of preference}.

Crystal Mountain

Growing up only 45 minutes away from Crystal Mountain, I will admit that I am a bit biased in saying this is the best place to ski and snowboard.  That being said, I think anyone who has been to Crystal would agree with me in that it has such a wide variety of slopes, culture as well as relaxation and the luxe vibe.  Crystal Mountain is the largest ski resort in Washington State with a total of 2,600 acres and over 50 named runs ..as well as a gondola ride.  Not only is Crystal the winter sport haven, it also has events going on throughout the season/year.

Mount Bachelor

Next on my list is wonderful Mount Bachelor!  This haven is located right outside of Bend, OR. Not only is this mountain stunning and the runs prime, a lot of the trails are above the tree line which makes for clear views and slim to none obstructions.  Time to visit Oregon!

Whistler/Blackcomb

We most certainly cannot leave out Whistler, just right over the Canadian border! Whistler Blackcomb’s is 8,100 acres of glorious terrain with a mile high vertical.  Whistler is not only widely known for the slopes, village and beauty...it was also home of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Who wouldn't want to say they've gone traversed where olympians have been?!

Schweitzer Mountain

Moving a little south and to the east, takes us to Idaho where you will find the amazing hills of Schweitzer Mountain. With 2900 skiable acres and 92 trails {10% beginner, 40% intermediate, 35% advanced and 15% expert} there is enough of a variety for all who would be joining you on a winter adventure.  Schweitzer also has other activities available such as : snowshoeing, tubing and snowmobiling.

Sun Valley

Last one on the list is Sun Valley in Idaho!  Sun Valley is known for it's two mountains: Bald and Dollar...because they are "money" - meaning pretty phenomenal! Along with enjoying the snowy runs, you can also go ice skating,  take a sleigh ride, tubing and concerts. Sun Valley is also known for its distinct restaurants and shopping.

Now that I've given you a peek into my slopes of choice in the PNW, I should confess that I am anxious to head up to Seattle this next week and visit my dear friend Crystal Mountain. I hope you are able to get some winter sports in the holiday season.
