Dance at The Kitchener Blues Festival: This notable blues festival is a four-day long celebration dedicated to over 90 different blues performances. Always held in August on the weekend following the civic holiday in Canada, the festival is something blues lovers wait for all year long! With four stages and two workshop stages throughout the Kitchener downtown area, the festival attracts a wide range of artists. Highlights of 2014 were The Otis Taylor Band, Delta Moon, Rick Derringer, and Swamperella.

Explore the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Festival: This two-day event takes place on the first weekend of the summer in beautiful Victoria Park. As its name suggests, the festival showcases artifacts, crafts, and different vendors from around the world. This popular festival has been around for well over 40 years with around 50,000 in attendance.

Shop at The Kitchener Market: This market is a testament to the town's culinary passion. For more than 130 years, the market, which spans an entire city block, has been home to diverse meats, fowls, vegetables, herbs, cheeses, and fruits. Because all goods are made my local artisans, you can find some unique goods only local to Ontario. The market is open every Saturday from 7am to 2pm.

For fresh and local tastes... Uptown 21 -- Located in Waterloo, Uptown 21 offers an ever-changing menu based on local and seasonal ingredients. Owned and operated by husband and wife team Nick and Nat, the restaurant has been a part of the culinary guide "Where to Eat in Canada" for five consecutive years. Make sure to stop in on Tuesday for their elaborate tapas menu that is always changing!
