Design Inspirations from a Destination Wedding in Mexico at the Rosewood Mayakoba
Nestled along the white sandy beaches of the Yucatan's Caribbean coastline, the ancient city of Tulum is one of Mexico's true gems. Mayan ruins, idyllic seaside landscapes, and amazing vacation and event venues make this the perfect spot for a memorable holiday (and for romance). Few places in Mexico are able to match the attractive atmosphere of Tulum. Many people have already discovered this area, which is often referred to as the Riviera Maya. Even so, there are still plenty of exclusive venues, such as Be Tulum, where you can enjoy a vacation or event without the crowds. At these high-end resorts, you will be able to host a destination wedding or enjoy a memorable honeymoon in one of the most beautiful places in the Americas.
We would like to show you what is possible when hosting a destination wedding on the Riviera Maya in general, and in Playa Del Carmen in particular. Playa Del Carmen is located just 30 minutes north of Tulum making it a convenient destination for exploring Tulum, Cozumel, Coba, and the rest of Riviera Maya.
Our favorite designers, Crosby + Jon, recently worked on a destination wedding at the Rosewood Mayakoba in Playa Del Carmen. Hopefully their creations will inspire you if you are considering hosting a destination wedding in Mexico (or anywhere else in the world).
From Crosby + Jon:
On the reception venue: Rosewood Mayakoba was our first choice because it is truly the definition of "paradise." It is one of our favorite places to work. It makes our job so much easier because the property is romantic, secluded and stunningly beautiful from every angle. But most importantly, the wedding team at Rosewood is one of the best we have ever worked with. They treat guests with such care and attention. Everyone from the guests to the wedding party to the designers feels like a VIP.
On the design: Our designs for the day were inspired by the ethereal quality of the Tulum ruins. We wanted this inspirational photoshoot to be timeless and classic, reflecting the qualities of those ancient days when the Mayans still flourished in Tulum. We loved the idea of the crumbling ancient ruins surrounded by jungle being the backdrop of the ceremony, and then the luxurious five-star Rosewood Mayakoba hosting the reception. The juxtaposition between ancient and new and raw and refined worked exceptionally well.
On the photography: Chris & Kristen Photography captured our vision perfectly. The way the photographs look, you can't help but be inspired to host a special event in such a naturally-beauiful place. Krista Jon created florals that mimicked the contrast of refined elegance and raw nature that we used as the framework for our concept for this destination wedding in Mexico.
