The Wedding Details

Free spirited yet sophisticated, Nick and Scout's outdoor wedding was nothing short of spectacular. Utilizing all that La Bella Vida Estate had to offer, they made every part of the wedding day experience memorable.

From the live country music performances to their very own photo booth bus, it's clear to see through Suzi's beautiful photographs that no detail was left unaddressed.

Spending the morning getting ready with your bridesmaids in the estate's glamorous bedrooms, surrounded by lavish furnishings and decadent interiors, is the perfect way for the bride to be to start the day and dispel any pre-wedding jitters, and that's exactly what Scout did.

Meanwhile, Nick and his groomsmen were busy prepping themselves for the day's events, before blowing off some steam with the estate's recreational facilities.

When the big moment finally arrived, Scout, along with the rest of the wedding party, was accompanied down the rustic decked stairway to an eagerly awaiting Nick.

The ceremony itself took place outside on the estate's gorgeous manicured lawn surrounded by the couples family and friends, followed by a thoughtful photo session that captured some unforgettable moments with everyone together under the enchanting Californian sun.

After the cake cutting and first dance, the evening's celebrations commenced with endless hours of toasting, dancing, and soaking in every last minute of this once in a lifetime experience.

The Inside Scoop

We got together with the couples incredibly talented photographer, Suzi Jacobs, to ask her for the inside scoop on what made Nick and Scout's wedding extra special and here's what she had to say:

1. Why did the couple choose La Bella Vida for their wedding?

Nick & Scout wanted an outdoor wedding with a timeless, elegant atmosphere. The estate owner is one of Nick’s work acquaintances and was in the process of turning the estate into a wedding venue, and the opportunity to be the first fell in the couple’s hands.

2. Can you tell us a little bit about the couple?

Nick and Scout grew up together— Nick has been Scout’s brother’s best friend for years and it wasn’t hard to recognize the couple’s strong friendship, mutual respect and affection for each other, even before they began dating. About a year ago, they began a company called The Photo Bus, a San Diego-based Photo Booth rental, created in a vintage Volkswagen Bus. When the time was right, Nick proposed to Scout at Petco Park after a Padres game. They had been chosen “randomly” to watch the sky show from home plate on the field, and after taking in each firework, on the grand finale, Nick fell to his knee and asked Scout to marry him. She said yes, and their families and friends began cheering from the seats near the field.

3.  Can you tell us a little bit about the ceremony, reception, unique touches?

The ceremony was intentional and sweet, honoring Nick & Scout’s Jehovah Witness beliefs. The reception was full of good food, amazing music and an endless dance party.  Nick and Scout sat upon a handmade deck, crafted by Pete DeCamp, Scout’s father.

4.  What was their/your favorite thing about the venue?

My favorite thing about the venue was the endless possibilities, and the fact Nick & Scout were able to get ready on one property. The venue had a gorgeous master bedroom, bathroom and closet that made the bride and bridesmaids glow with glee— I could tell each one of them felt like they were royalty that day. And the groom/groomsmen were busy celebrating every moment together with billiards, the tennis/basketball courts, the pool and corn hole platforms. It was definitely a day of celebration, it’s impossible not to be happy in a place like that.

5.  What was their/your favorite moment at the wedding?

With Nick and Scout, every moment was special that day. You could see it in their smiles and the way they couldn’t take their eyes off each other. My favorite moment was after their portrait session with me that day, they just stopped and smiled at each other before walking up the driveway after me. It was the only time they had alone together before joining the reception, their bridal party and hundreds of guests.

6. How would you define the style of the wedding?

Classy, simple & accessible.
