Whether you are planning a wedding, birthday celebration, dinner party or corporate function – the design and visual aesthetics of your space directly contributes to the overall ambience and feel of the event.
Colour palettes, textures, space planning, installations, lighting and floral design – these are all key components that should be considered thoughtfully and strategically in order to produce a fabulous event. Here are our top tips to keep in mind when designing an event:
Have a clear budget in mind from the get-go! If you have a set budget to work towards, you will be able to make decisions quickly and easily throughout the design process.
Know Your Audience
Who will be attending the event and what are they hoping to get out of it? For a wedding, your guests will want a warm and inviting space to celebrate the occasion amongst loved ones. For a corporate function however, your design may need to be more sophisticated, refined and stimulating to reflect the occasion. Determine the ambience you want to achieve and make this a priority throughout the styling process.
Create A Vision Board
It is SO important to have a clear vision in order to create a cohesive, streamlined design that is going to resonate throughout the event. Start with collating inspirational images and think about the colours and textures you want to include. Bring all your ideas together and cull this down to a one-page vision board with a clear concept. Your vision board should be well-defined and give a strong sense of the look and feel you are hoping to achieve. Keep referring back to this vision board throughout the design process to ensure you are staying true to your concept.
Find Your Dream Team
There are so many different elements involved in a beautiful event – florals, lighting, stationery design, furniture & décor to name a few. Start networking and building relationships with these specialists. It is so valuable to find like-minded industry professionals who can contribute their own unique skills to the design to create something truly amazing!
Employ A Professional Stylist
Furthermore the value in employing a professional event stylist to design the concept, liaise with vendors, pull your event together and be there on the day is something we strongly recommend. Most importantly – have fun with your design!! When you are passionate about what you are working on, it is reflected in the final product.
