This baby shower was extra special to me because not only was the guest of honor my sister but the first baby in the family. I’m going to be an AUNT!
The theme of the party was Silhouette Baby. I remember as a young girl my mother took my sisters and I to get our silhouettes done and for the longest time they were framed in the house.
While brainstorming for this event, the same images kept popping into my head; white, flowy draping, velvet, silver metals and every shade of blue. We wanted to create a cozy affair using my parents’ backyard as the backdrop. Mixing the masculine metals and splashes of blues with soft fabrics under the cabana brought the dreamy baby boy shower to life. In an effort to thread the theme throughout the event, we took long strands of black velvet and hung them down the back of the Mommy-to-be’s chair giving her a custom thrown in which to honor her future prince. We also tied the bits of black and blue velvet to the cake pops on the dessert station. Each place setting was complete with a blue, vintage water goblet, a mason jar with chevron striped straw for lemonade, a custom lunch menu & place card by Prim & Pixie, and a spool of blue ribbon for the belly measuring game. To complete the look of the long table for the 30+ guests, we hired Heavenly Blooms to design winter white arrangements full of baby’s breath, roses, ranunculus, and anemones for protection and good luck.
No event, large or small, is complete without a party favor. We used Couture Painting to book the silhouette artist, Thor. Guests spent time in the lounge, outfitted with black and white print pillows, a waiting their turn to sit with for their personalized silhouette. Rounding out the perfect afternoon, we treated guests to a gourmet coffee cart and sweets with a dozen different desserts from Sweet and Saucy Shop.
