When we first decided to add Cape Town to our honeymoon Itinerary I didn't really know much about it and had no idea of where to stay. We began to look into accommodations but with so many options it was a bit overwhelming. We ended up bouncing around a bit and had the opportunity to experience a few of the neighborhoods. So here are a few areas to consider.
Camps Bay & Clifton Beach area
If you are looking for a fun beach atmosphere loaded with fancy mansions, fantastic restaurants and bustling nightlife then you have come to right place. Your rich and famous have homes here and celebrities often vacation here. There are more than enough options for enjoying a sundowner and lots of people watching to be had here.
Where to stay
The Marly – an 11 room boutique hotel located in the promenade. The rooms are very chic and very tastefully decorated. The Marly is set right in the middle of main beach and located above many great restaurants.
The 12 Apostles- Located about 5 minutes from main beach in Camps Bay on its own secluded beachfront property. Although a shuttle into camps bay is necessary, the hotel offers free shuttle every hour into Camps Bay and the VA waterfront. The 12 Apostles is a 5 star boutique hotel and offers all the luxury amenities but still offering a very boutique feel.
The Va Waterfront is a bustling area with restaurants, shopping, bars, and close to just about everything. You can catch the on off bus and head anywhere from the VA waterfront. The ferry over to Robbins Island is also located in VA Waterfront.
About 45 minutes from Cape Town, the winelands offers everything from farm houses, boutique hotels, luxury estates and much more. You can tour the wineries on your own or with a private tour guide. The two largest wine regions are Stellenbosch and Franschhoek just 30 minutes from one another.

Babylonstoren – a full service farm, vineyards, restaurant and accommodations. There is really nothing like Babylonstoren
The Clouds Estate - Offers 7 rooms and a handful of apartments for larger families. The Clouds Estate can be rented for exclusive use or by room as a bed and breakfast. The views from the Clouds Estate are some of the best in all of Stellenbosch.
If you are planning to do a lot of activities and will constantly be on the move then the city center may be a good choice for you. A popular business district with lots of restaurants and shops and close to the VA Waterfront.
Where to stay
The Cape Royale - the hotel was originally built before for the Olympics and its located with breathtaking views of the stadium. The rooftop bar and event venue offers some of the best views of Cape Town City. The Cape Royale is another great location to enjoy a sundowner.
