Favorite local hot spot: Pizza Port and the Bottle Shop next door.  Pizza port is a local pizza chain specializing in great pizzas and excellent local beer.  My favorite pizza is the Pizza Carlsbad.  Wash it down with a Wipeout IPA or a Sharkbite Red.  Be sure to stop by the Bottle Shop next door to pick up some specialty craft beers to take home.

Favorite Local goods: Carlsbad has lots of great antique shops along State Street.  (or Pizza Port Answer again..)
If you were having a stay cation where would you stay: Omni La Costa Resort and Spa or the Park Hyatt are great places to pamper yourself.  If you're up for a Legoland trip, the Grand Pacific Palisades is not only super close, but also offers a Legoland package complete with park hopper tickets and a two night stay.

A flat three mile trail around Batiquitos Lagoon is a fun walk to view wildflowers and birds.
TGIF Jazz in the Parks concerts on Fridays during the summer and rotates between different Carlsbad pubic parks.  Bring a picnic dinner and a bottle of wine!

South Carlsbad State Beach is a wonderful beach to visit with your family.  If you plan far enough in advance, you can even camp here! Helpful tip: locals call this beach Ponto. Bring or rent a surfboard, as this is a great surfing spot!

A morning stroll along the beach, followed by lunch at Pizza Port.  In the spring the Carlsbad Flower fields are in full bloom, and I love driving by (or you can pay to walk through them).  Spend the afternoon shopping at the Premium Outlet mall, dinner at Vigilucci's Seafood and Steakhouse where you can enjoy a great view of the Sunset.
