With its warm sunny skies, crisp ocean air, and ever-cool celebrity culture, Los Angeles boasts a laid-back vibe and show-stopping aesthetic like few other cities. From Beverly Hills mansions to chic city lofts, the City of Angels is one of our all-time favorite spots for Venuelusting. So put on your sunglasses and get ready for a look at L.A. like no other. Today, we’ve rounded up 20 stunning Los Angeles event and filming venues for you.
1. Carondelet House
We start our roundup today with a trip to the Carondelet House, one of L.A.’s most iconic and beloved event venues. Originally built in 1928, this stunning space boasts an Italian Villa-inspired aesthetic and storied design details--like age-old hardwood floors, exposed red brick, and towering vaulted ceilings. Located just one mile from the heart of downtown Los Angeles, we love that the Carondelet House offers guests a charming Mediterranean-esque style and a central city location.
With 7,600 square feet of interior space to work with, events at the Carondelet House can take place between the ballroom and multipurpose studio spaces. Plus, the venue’s two main exterior courtyards allow your guests' quaint areas to get a bit of fresh air in between celebratory moments. We love the idea of hosting a warm wedding reception here, complete with farm tables and market lights. Or, reserve the Carondelet House for a stunning holiday celebration or large birthday party. The space can host up to 300 guests for a casual standing affair, and up to 150 for a formal seated dinner.
Nestled in the core of downtown Los Angeles, Vibiana is one of our all-time favorite Los Angeles event venues. What was once the city’s first Archdiocese Catholic cathedral, this historic space has since been transformed into an absolutely stunning wedding and events venue. With grand columns, striking marble design details, and tons of wide-open space to work with in Vibiana’s Main Hall (below), we love the idea of renting Vibiana for an unforgettable wedding ceremony.
Our favorite part of Vibana? With critically acclaimed Chef Neal Fraser behind the project, your guests will enjoy a culinary and craft-cocktail experience like no other in the city while celebrating amongst an aesthetic as show-stopping as they come. Vibiana can accommodate up to 789 guests for a cocktail reception, or up to 550 guests for a seated reception.
3. The MacArthur
Formerly known as The Park Plaza, Number 3 on our list takes us to an iconic (and jaw-dropping) Los Angeles venue. Boasting a stunning Gothic Revival architecture style and striking Art-Deco design details, The MacArthur is no longer the functioning hotel it once was as the renowned Park Plaza, but now operates solely as a private event space (which is great news for Venuelusters everywhere). With a history dating back to 1925 and an aesthetic that feels both grand and absolutely magical, we love the idea of hosting a stunning wedding ceremony and reception at The MacArthur, or renting the space for an inspiring holiday party.
Venue options at The MacArthur include: The Historic Lobby, which boasts cathedral ceilings, elaborate murals, and a stunning antique chandelier; Elks Hall, which, with room for up to 700 guests for a cocktail reception, is the largest space available; The Grand Ballroom (above), which boasts its original wood-beam ceiling and gorgeous hardwood floors; The Plaza Room, which features a beautiful Art Deco bar; The Garden, which is situated amongst a private open-air courtyard; and The Lounge, an intimate space perfect for cocktail hours or small seated dinners.
4. Chateau De Beverly Hills
Number 4 on our roundup of gorgeous Los Angeles spaces takes us to the Chateau De Beverly Hills, a 36,000-square-foot property exclusively available for large-scale filming projects. With Corinthian marble columns, 24-karat gold gilt from floor to ceiling, and imported limestone and onyx accents, we’ve never laid eyes on an estate quite as grand as this one.
Featured in the movie “In Time” with Justin Timberlake, this estate is perfect for photographers and videographers looking for a stunning backdrop for their next project. We’re especially swooning over the grounds, which feature a pristine tennis court, an elaborate pool area, and an expansive lawn manicured to perfection.
Originally built as a livery and later used as a cold-storage warehouse, Number 5 on our list of swoon-worthy Los Angeles event venues brings us to Millwick. Now a chic loft space rented out for private events of all kinds, Millwick boasts 7,000 square feet of space to work with—divided between its 4,500-square-foot interior and its 3,000-square-foot courtyard and garden—and can accommodate up to 175 guests.
We especially love Millwick’s quirky-cool aesthetic. Massive glass garage doors, funky murals, and colorful wallpaper make it the perfect wedding venue for the artsy couple. We love the idea of hosting a ceremony in its lush courtyard and then moving guests inside its loft for a night of dinner, drinks, and dancing amongst a storied aesthetic—complete with whitewashed exposed brick walls and concrete flooring.
6. Taglyan Complex
Next up, we take a turn from the ever-quirky to the always grand. One of L.A.’s most sought-after venues, the Taglyan Complex offers a stunning banquet hall venue for fairytale weddings and ethereal holiday parties alike. Plus, with such an integral role in the Los Angeles events scene, few spaces boast the level of service and cuisine the Taglyan Complex offers its hosts and guests alike.
Amongst event spaces to choose from are: the Grand Ballroom (above), a 7,000-square-foot space complete with a stunning 5,000-square-foot stained-glass ceiling; the elegant Foyer, which boasts intricate marble inlays and plush hand-crafted furnishings; and the picturesque Gardens, which are encircled by age-old Magnolia, Olive, and Cypress trees. We love the idea of hosting an elaborate wedding ceremony in the Ballroom, cocktail hour in the foyer, and a celebratory reception in the gardens.
7. Lombardi House
If there’s a space more airy and welcoming than Los Angeles’ iconic Lombardi House, we have yet to find it. Originally constructed as a modest 1.5 story home, the estate was expanded in the 1930s to include colonial revival design details and additions. Acquired by Vaudevillian performers Philip and Sylvia Lombardi in the 1940s, the Lombardi house soon became known as a staple in the Hollywood party scene, as its owners often threw lavish soriées of all sorts.
Events at the Lombardi House can take place on the property grounds and its stunning original barn (above)—which was refurbished to include 35-foot vaulted ceilings—making for the perfect transitional indoor/outdoor setting. The overall estate can accommodate up to 250 guests for everything from weekend-long family reunions to holiday parties to weddings. From its bright-white design aesthetic to its charming countryside feel, we simply can’t get enough of this oh-so-pretty piece of Hollywood history.
8. 440 Seaton
Number 8 on our list of stunning Los Angeles event venues brings us to 440 Seaton, a striking warehouse space in the heart of downtown L.A.’s Arts District. Built in 1913 and boasting wood beams, exposed brick, and 50-foot ceilings, 440 Seaton offers its guests a space both storied and urban, both retro and rustic. We especially love that 440 Seaton offers guests exclusive use of its own fenced-in parking lot (which is a rarity in L.A.).
With over 10,000 square feet of truly striking space to work with, 440 Seaton can accommodate up to 1,700 standing guests or up to 600 for a seated wedding reception. The venue provides delectable catering but is also willing to work with outside vendors if hosts choose to go elsewhere for services. Our favorite space in the entire venue? Its rooftop area (above), which overlooks downtown Los Angeles and feels truly magical.
9. loftSEVEN Penthouse
Next up on our list of striking Los Angeles event venues, we head to loftSEVEN Penthouse. A blank-slate setting with tons of potential, we love that this sleek and contemporary space can be completely transformed to accommodate nearly any design aesthetic. We especially love the idea of foregoing a ballroom wedding and opting for this 12th-floor city-chic penthouse instead.
Events at loftSEVEN can accommodate anywhere from 2 to 200 guests, making it the perfect space for everything from elopements to full-scale wedding receptions. Our favorite space? The venue’s stunning rooftop, which makes for a perfect setting for small wedding ceremonies or celebratory cocktail hours.
10. Jonathan Club
A private social club located in downtown Los Angeles, the Jonathan Club offers its members use of its striking space for private events of all kinds. We love Jonathan Club for members who want to host a stunning soirée chock-full of luxury and old-school charm. Private events at the Jonathan Club range from birthday celebrations to wedding receptions and each is treated with unparalleled service and attention to detail.
11. Calamigos Ranch
Our roundup of Los Angeles event venues wouldn’t be complete without at least one stunning California ranch. So, Number 11 on our list brings us to Calamigos Ranch—a sprawling space nestled amongst the Santa Monica Mountains and Malibu Wine Country. Venue spaces at Calamigos ranch are seemingly endless. The beautiful Birchwood Room can accommodate up to 140 guests, making it the most intimate space on the ranch. Situated between a natural limestone waterfall and century-old Weeping Willows, the Birchwood Room offers an ethereal aesthetic like few other venues on Earth.
We’re also swooning over Calamigos’ Redwood Room, the most historic site on the ranch, complete with an all-original stonewall fireplace, storied Oak trees, and serene waterfalls. Other event spaces include the iconic Pavilion at North Point (below) and the magical-as-ever Oaks Room.
If there’s one thing L.A. is chock-full of, it’s quirky-cool spaces and places, and this smog-shop-turned-venue certainly proves our point. Originally built in the 1980s as a smog check center, the Smogshoppe is now a 100%-solar-powered private indoor/outdoor events space (and we can't take our eyes off its urban-chic design aesthetic).
One of the most sustainably designed spaces in the U.S., we love the Smogshoppe as a quaint wedding venue for the environmentally-conscious couple. Its massive glass garage doors and urban-industrial aesthetic make for an amazing foundation for everything from birthday parties to vow renewals. Just as stunning as the interior, though, is the Smogshoppe’s exterior, which is dripping in bright, lush greenery.
13. Madera Kitchen
Next up, we head to Hollywood’s hottest Mediterranean restaurant, Madera Kitchen. We especially love the super rustic and charmingly eclectic feel of this indoor/outdoor space. Private events at Madera can take place among three distinct spaces—and, though it’s hard to choose, our favorite is the stunning wine room (above) for a bachelorette dinner or engagement party. We also love the idea of renting out the entire restaurant for up to 250 seated guests or up to 500 for a standing cocktail affair.
14. Beverly Hills Modern Mansion
Number 14 on our list of show-stopping Los Angeles spaces brings us to yet another stunning Beverly Hills estate. The Beverly Hills Modern Mansion is open for filming and photo shoots, but no private events (so start dusting off that screenplay now). Known as “The Shiphouse,” this sprawling estate offers 11,000 square feet of living space, 2,500 square feet of decking, and a ship-inspired design that's unlike anything we've ever seen—all set amongst a ½ acre property that will leave you absolutely speechless behind the lens.
15. Alexandria Ballrooms
Located in the heart of the historic core in Downtown Los Angeles, you’ve never seen ballrooms quite like the Alexandria Ballrooms—that, we can assure you. This iconic space has hosted everyone from presidents to dignitaries to celebrities over the years. With a storied history dating back to 1906, the ballrooms have been impeccably (and thoughtfully) restored—each still boasting its unmistakable original charm and character.
With garage parking available, a private kitchen and restrooms, and no corkage fee for outside alcohol, events at the Alexandria are executed seamlessly and with unparalleled attention to detail—making things an absolute breeze for hosts and guests alike. The three main venues include: the Palm Court Ballroom, which boasts stunning arched ceilings, Tiffany skylights, and original chandeliers (260 guests seated; 500 standing); the iconic King Edward Ballroom (above), which has been featured in numerous films, photo shoots, and music videos (200 guests seated; 100 standing); and The Mezz, Alexandria’s largest event space boasting over 14,000 square feet of industrial-style space to work with.
16. Cafe Pinot
With an outdoor patio situated along L.A.’s Meguire Gardens, we love the renowned Patina Group's Cafe Pinot for everything from bachelorette brunches to bridal celebrations. We're especially swooning over the idea of hosting a wedding reception at Cafe Pinot’s private garden patio, a space that can accommodate up to 100 seated guests or 150 standing for a cocktail hour. Hosts may also choose to rent out the entire restaurant for their soirée, allowing for space for up to 190 seated guests or 200 standing. Aside from the charming atmosphere and très-lush gardens, we also love Cafe Pinot’s Californian-French menu. (Insiders Tip: Opt for the Mini Gruyère & Caraway Popovers and Cauliflower Soup Shooters for your passed hors d’oeuvres.)
17. Rooftop Gardens
Sitting seven stories above the bustling city of Los Angeles is Rooftop Gardens, a chic rooftop event space situated atop a luxury apartment and penthouse building. With comfortable cabanas, a contemporary design aesthetic, and urban gardens, we love the idea of renting this streamlined space for an engagement party or bridal brunch. With a central location just 20 minutes from LAX, Rooftop Gardens can accommodate up to 300 seated guests.
18. Terranea Resort
No roundup of Los Angeles event venues would be complete without at least one oceanside setting. Number 18 on our list, then, brings us to Terranea Resort, a venue that allows guests to say “I Do” just steps away from the sprawling blue waters of the Pacific. Situated on 102 oceanfront acres, we love Terranea for more than just weddings—its endless event options and high-end service make it perfect for everything from corporate retreats to surprise parties. Event spaces at Terranea range from striking bluffs overlooking the Pacific to the stunning 18,000-square-foot Palos Verdes grand ballroom.
Number 19 on our list takes us to a spot with a private dining room you won't want to ever leave. A.O.C., located on West 3rd in L.A., is a stunning wine bar with a Californian French-inspired menu that will leave your guests speechless. We love the idea of renting out its striking wine room—a space covered, from floor to ceiling, in original hardwood—for everything from rehearsal dinners to engagement parties. The warm low lighting and iconic bronze bull make for a setting that feels both cozy and cool.
20. Craft Los Angeles
A project of renowned chef Tom Colicchio's, Craft Los Angeles boasts a streamlined, contemporary design aesthetic and a menu that focuses heavily on seasonal and local fare—making it the perfect space for Venuelusting foodies everywhere.
