Car shows are often geared towards automobile enthusiasts. For everyone else, though, these events are usually not very exciting.
This is not the case at the La Jolla Concours d'Elegance. Held each April in its namesake coast-side San Diego suburb, this is much more than a mere car show.
Certainly, perfectly maintained classic cars and even some newer super-luxury models are on display, but thanks to a great atmosphere and plenty of peripheral attractions, this is more than a mere auto show. It is the perfect springtime high-end event.
The weekend kicks off with a classic cocktail party at the famed Valencia Hotel. The following evening, the lawns of Scripps Park will be lit up for a VIP-only party sponsored by luxury car-maker Bentley.
During this event, attendees can mingle with car owners, celebrity guests and the judges who will ultimately decide which of the more than 150 cars on display will earn top marks.
In addition to classic cocktails, there will be complimentary food. On Sunday the general public will stroll the lawns of the park appreciating the timeless sense of class that many of these cars display. Scripps boasts amazing views of the Pacific, with panoramas impressive enough to steal attention from the one-of-a-kind vehicles.
The famed Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is by far the most prestigious of this type of event. However, 2014 marks the 10th year for the La Jolla Concours. It has grown each year of its existence in terms of attendance, number and quality of participants and also the quality of the sponsors.
If you are a car enthusiast, a luxury aficionado or just someone looking for the timeless sense of elegance that is so difficult to come by these days, the La Jolla Concours de Elegance is certainly a worthwhile event.
Perhaps you would like to host your own event to coincide with the events at Scripps Park. Maybe a cocktail party for fellow Concours attendees, or a pre-show luncheon for business associates or the events sponsors.
We have the perfect estates for your needs in the San Diego area. "Perfect" is not just a catch-all adjective. Some of our estates seem literally tailor made for a timeless, classic, elegant event like the Concours.
The Emmaline Estate is the perfect example. Built to resemble a French countryside estate, this property features an expansive pool area, a paved patio, lawns, gardens, winding pathways, and even a stone bridge over a bubbling stream. All of this hearkens back to the ideas at the very roots of the whole Concours d'Elegance phenomenon: timelessness, an appreciation for quality and attention to detail.
The Sanctuary is another option that puts a premium on outdoor elements. Its four acres feature a waterfall, pool, Jacuzzi, and pond. The facilities consist of four interconnected pavilions. The main building features, five fireplaces, terraces and covered veranda, patio areas.
We also have a couple of very unique options right in the heart of La Jolla, mere minutes from the car-filled lawns. The La Jolla Modern gives elegance a cutting edge twist with a thoroughly modern design, floor to ceiling windows, courtyards, a pool and stunning views of the surrounding landscapes.
The almost excessive use of windows give this estate, which can host more than 100 guests, a very airy feel, and the glass makes it possible to enjoy the stunning views of the Pacific no matter where in the property you are.
The nearby Bayview Mansion offers more classic surroundings, using the best of California's architectural styles to create an unparalleled atmosphere. It can host a larger number of guests and also has five bedrooms for overnight accommodations.
The best thing about the Bayview is that it is not just a cool name for an estate. Guests can actually view San Diego Bay and the downtown area from both inside and outside of the mansion. This makes it a perfect option for an evening event when the city lights are shining.
