Nakiya and Will had a truly out-of-the-box wedding at the Bali Gardens Estate on June 1, 2013 atop gorgeous Rancho Santa Fe with mild but warm San Diego weather. 160 friends and family joined in on the festivities on this special day.
For the theme, Nakiya and Will chose bright red and solid black paired with dark blush florals and burlap accents. Like the out-of-the-box location, the theme was surprising but overall a fun, youthful touch that matched the edgy style of Nakiya and her bridesmaids, who had “rockabilly” like retro curls.
Nakiya being of Cherokee descent and Will being a devoted marine and the son of a marine, the couple had unique vows attesting to each other’s family lineage. Nakiya joked of Will’s strict routines while both mentioned their dream to travel the world together. The officient gave a tear-jerking backstory of how they met at work one day when y saw a handsome young man through a window and was struck with love at first sight.
Pre-cocktail hour was held in the Bali Garden’s central terrace while the ceremony was at the eastern edge of the property with the infinite horizon behind the couple and vintage doors welcoming guests to their seats. The reception took place in the estate’s main backyard where string lighting floated above wooden tables which were decorated with succulents and door handles to denote table numbers. Other fun elements included a photobooth and donuts.
Will and Nakiya were all eyes for each other the whole night, and everybody in a celebratory mood. Congrats to the newlyweds!
