‘I’m really not comfortable infront of the camera’
This is the kind of comment we get from almost everyone of our brides & grooms. And lets be honest - most of us who get in front of a camera feel uncomfortable. This is why choosing your perfect photographer is one of the biggest decisions in your wedding planning.
A few things to look for...
The obvious is that you LOVE their work.
There are soooo many different photographers out there, that there is bound to be your perfect photographer - you just have to take the time to find them. Explore their blogs, weddings and engagements they’ve photographed and if you fall head over heels...thats a pretty great sign.
The other BIG one is that you find a photographer who matches your personality style.
Your photographer(s) is with you for every moment of your wedding day. Its important that you like who they are and that you get along. This will also play a big part in you feeling ‘comfortable’ in front of the camera.
Put those two things together and you’ve found gold!
Some other advice would be to not get too caught up in finding specific photo shots on pinterest or google. Our brides & grooms trust us to the point where they know they’ll love what ever we capture. This is a big deal. You don’t want your photographer to be so caught up in making sure he/she captures all your saved pinterest ideas that they don’t have the freedom to document your wedding how they creatively see it. Thats why you’ve got to fall in love with their work, who they are and how they capture a wedding day / engagement.
We’ve really come to love relaxed weddings. You just can’t beat an outdoor ceremony, followed by an intimate reception with all those you love most.
Byron View Farm in Byron Bay is the perfect location for a relaxed wedding. Located in the hinterland, its a cute white cottage home surrounded by epic views.
We’ve highlighted the photographer and what to look for, and also a favourite venue of ours...
I also briefly want to highlight you, as the bride & groom. Don’t get caught up in traditions, and feeling like you have to do things this way or that way because thats what the ‘trend’ is. BE YOU... Let your wedding day be the most beautiful representation of the two of you and your love, and all those celebrating that. If you don’t want to wear a white dress - don’t. If you don’t want to get married in a church - don’t. If you don’t want to have a cake - don’t. This is YOUR day. No one elses. Make it something you’ll look back on years on and still love everything about it.
And lastly, if you’re looking for a Fantastic honeymoon destination, New Zealand is one of our favorites. Some couples want to go for the big travel - Europe / USA etc, but if you’re looking to just get away and have some down time after the craze of planning and organising your wedding, if you are after breathtaking scenery, great road trips and being able to breath - then you’ll love New Zealand.
We make it a yearly stop for us now. Its our mid-year break of getting re-inspired and refreshed for the remainder of the year ahead. We love the south island. Particularly Queenstown, Glenorchy, Wanaka... just to name a few. Winter is so wonderful (and cold!) and summer is just as good (not so cold!).
What are some questions you would like to ask Heart and Colour Photography about their work or other types....and maybe even about Australia, Byronview Farm or New Zealand?
