Lindsey and Dave decided to seek out a wedding venue that would allow them to entertain their closest family and friends for the weekend. They did not want to put everyone up in a hotel; they wanted their guests to have a more personal experience. For this reason, they began to focus their venue search on private estates.

Las Olivas Estate in Rancho Santa Fe made it to the top of their list. There were a number of similar estates in the San Diego area, but this one had exactly the kind of setting that they wanted.

Lindsey and Dave treated their guests to three days of celebrations. The weekend began with a Mexican fiesta-themed rehearsal dinner. This was followed by a day at the pool.  Then, they celebrated the main event with a backyard wedding ceremony and an outdoor reception. The couple wanted to keep the weekend casual and fun but still have touches of elegance. Las Olivas was able to provide both a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and a sense of sophistication.

The wedding ceremony was held in the front yard with the seating area surrounded by the olive trees that give the estate its name. Because Las Olivas is an exclusive property, the front lawn is completely enclosed. This allows events to be kept private even though the main lawn is right in front of the villa.

The well-manicured grass surrounding the seating area gave the proceedings a sense of elegance. The couple's "I Dos" were exchanged with the villa's ivy-colored walls in the background.

With its garden-like exterior grounds, Las Olivas is ideal for an al fresco celebration. The weather in this part of California is usually sunny and warm, so an outdoor wedding reception is a very practical choice.

Lindsey and Dave's reception highlighted the mixture of sophistication and earthiness that is possible at Las Olivas. They chose farm-style tables, which were topped with lace and wrought-iron lanterns. The tables were set outdoors in between the palm trees right on the lawn. The result was a reception that felt partly like a backyard celebration and partly like a chic dinner party.

The pool at Las Olivas features cascading waterfalls. The adjacent patio area has large palm trees that can be lit up to bring atmosphere to any event that takes place after the sun goes down. A dance floor can be placed on the patio if needed. Actually, Las Olivas is very experienced when it comes to hosting weddings and other special events. Every inch of the property can be customized to fit your needs.

One of the best aspects of Las Olivas is that it can be used as a single venue to host all of the events and celebrations that are a part of the wedding weekend. Like Lindsey and Dave, any couple could host their rehearsal dinner on the wedding-day eve, then have the ceremony and reception the following day at the very same venue. You could even finish with a day-after brunch if you would like.

Las Olivas has four bedrooms in its villa, so the bride and groom and their most-special special guests do not even have to leave the property for the whole weekend.
