After you say “I do,” it’s time to get away (literally) from your family, friends and loved ones for a week or two of post-wedding vacation bliss (better known as "the honeymoon"). After our dream wedding on the beach in Maui, Mark and I took a hopper flight to Kauai to slow down and enjoy some much-deserved one-on-one time.
Here is a list of items perfect for a honeymoon on an island paradise.
Maxi dresses are the perfect outfit if you want the flexibility to dress up or dress down. Pair your maxi dress with flats for a day of shopping in Hanalei Bay or dress it up with wedges for the champagne sabering happy hour at the St. Regis or a sushi dinner at The Dolphin Restaurant (the where-the-locals-go spot for sushi).
Pair your bikini with a cute cover up and flip flops to head to Hideaways Beach for snorkeling. Kauai is a beach-happy island, so bikinis are the unofficial dress code. Make sure to bring a handful.
Trail running shoes (Salomon’s are my favorite) will serve you well for exploring the trails along the Na Pali Coast. Kauai is still wild, so this a part of the island that is only accessible by foot or helicopter. If you chose the air route, pack a lightweight jacket as it gets chilly up in the friendly skies.
Pack the sexy lingerie, of course, but don’t forget a couple sets of loungewear. Although these may seem like opposites, you will want both. Honeymoons are for lovers, and you will want to be appropriately (un)dressed. You will also be exhausted from all the wedding duties. Give yourself a day or two to lounge around the hotel room (and to look cute doing so). Some down time will help to revive you and your new spouse so you can enjoy the rest of your honeymoon.
Selfie Stick: The best part about being on your honeymoon? It’s just the two of you. While this is romantic, it does make it hard to capture photos with both of you in them, especially when you are in beautiful and slightly remote locales. A seflie stick extends your reach and lets you capture all those couple's memories quickly and easily.
Bling wipes will help keep your new ring sparkly and beautiful throughout your honeymoon travels.
Luggage tags are a great way to announce your new last name (and, for course, to make your luggage identifiable). The last thing you want is for someone else to accidently claim your luggage packed full of your honeymoon essentials.
