About Morukuru Ocean House

Sitting in the expansive De Hoop Nature Preserve on the most scenic section of South Africa's Indian Ocean coastline, the Morukuru Ocean House is an utterly unique and totally private holiday property.  A modern four-bedroom villa, it sits adjacent to more than 50 crowd-less kilometers of coastline defined by white sand beaches, tidal pools, limestone rock formations, and dune-lands.  During the winter, the coastal shallows turn into one of the world's largest whale nurseries, and guests can watch southern right whales calving, as well as viewing dolphins and seals, right from the dunes that are within walking distance of the Ocean House. Each of the four bedrooms at the Ocean House contains an en suite bathroom as well as glass doors that enhance the airy feel that defines this property.  These doors also offer yet another chance for guests to enjoy the fabulous beauty of De Hoop.  One bedroom was specifically design for use by children, meaning that though it is a thoroughly luxurious estate, the Ocean House is also quite family friendly. Guests get to enjoy the services of a professional chef and a personal butler during their stay.  Airy seating areas, including a top level room that is surrounded by windows on both sides, provide innumerable chances to relax in comfort without losing sight of the amazing surroundings. Meanwhile, a fireplace and wood beams give just the right measure of rustic ambiance to the Ocean House. Like all of the Morukuru properties, the Ocean House is available on an exclusive basis.  This means that during your stay, the villa and the surrounding landscapes are yours and yours alone.  In addition to the wildlife in the ocean, De Hoop is one of South Africa’s best (but most-often-overlooked) safari destinations.  You will never have to worry about Land Rover traffic here, but you will see rare species like the clawless otter, the Cape mountain zebra, and even the elusive leopard. What to do Explore the endless sand dunes, beaches, and tidal rock pools along the coast. Enjoy a gourmet meal cooked by the Ocean House's private chef before heading to the rooftop indoor seating area to watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean with a glass of wine in hand. Take a nature walk or drive to see leopards, zebra and over 80 additional species of mammal. Photos Courtesy of Morukuru Ocean House
