About Puakea Ranch

The island of Hawaii, also known as the Big Island, is characterized by beautiful natural landscapes. People come here to surround themselves with lush tropical mountains and valleys, untouched beaches, and non-touristy culture. The Puakea Ranch is the perfect place to do this.
Sitting on the northern tip of the island, Puakea is far from Hawaii’s resort scenes both geographically and in terms of ambiance. There are only four bungalows here, so even if the Ranch is filled to capacity, your stay will be delightfully quiet and private.

Puakea sits at an elevation of 400 feet. This puts guests right in the middle of lush highland landscapes. It is also the perfect elevation for panoramic views of the nearby ocean and coastline. The temperatures are consistently comfortable, hovering in the 80 to 85-degree range each every day.

There is a sense of history here are well. The four residences are fully restored plantation-era bungalows. The atmosphere is certainly timeless, but the services are quite modern. Bungalow guests enjoy free wireless internet, televisions, private concierge service, fresh tropical flower arrangements and optional extra services like a personal chef and masseuse.

Each of the four bungalows has its own personality. Miles Away is a charming ’30s-era bungalow with a porch that offers sunset views over the ocean. In addition to an outdoor plunge pool, this accommodation has a separate bathhouse with a custom Japanese tub. With two bedrooms, Miles Away is ideal both for couples and for families.

Yoshi’s House is a former foreman’s residence with a lava-rock pool, shade-providing mango trees and an outdoor shower. The airy design and large lanai make this an ideal venue for a small reception or a dinner party for 20 guests. Larger celebrations can be held outdoors on the resort's expansive grounds.

The Cowboy House dates back more than a century. This three-bedroom residence has a full kitchen, a bathhouse and a state-of-the-art entertainment system. It is ideal for larger families or couples who need extra space.

Gardens surround the fourth bungalow, James Cottage. This intimate studio-style cottage has both ocean and pasture views. The surroundings are always in full view thanks to the windows on every side of the building.

There is a large garden on site to enjoy while staying on property and don't forget about the fresh eggs!
