Originally opened in the 1950s and recently renovated, this vacation haven sits in the woodland area in the Long Island community of Montauk. The 19 cabin-inspired rooms circle a central garden area, known as the Magic Garden, which has hammocks, barbecues and tables for lounging and eating. The hotel offers a variety of summertime experiences, from paddle boarding and biking to ping pong, lawn games and fishing. Meals made with the freshest local seafood and produce are served nightly either at Ruschmeyer’s indoor restaurant or outdoors in the Magic Garden. The resort's exclusive nightspot, the Electric Eel, hosts DJs and live concerts and features a menu of unique maritime-inspired cocktails. There are five room styles, and a total of 19 rooms, at Ruschmeyer’s. All are made with cedar plank walls and brass lighting fixtures that hearken back to the 1950s. Standard Queen and Standard Double rooms have en suite bathrooms, Moroccan rugs and signature beds with wicker headboards. Each room also has a private barbecue grill. Deluxe Queen and King rooms are spacious, with an overall area of 190 sq. feet. These rooms are equipped with an indoor hammock where guests can lounge in complete privacy. The 230 sq. foot Lucky 13 Suite has all the amenities of the other rooms we’ve just mentioned. In addition, it features an adjoining sitting room with convertible daybed. This is the perfect choice for a family or for honeymooners who want extra privacy and space. Complimentary breakfast is offered to all guests, and wireless internet is free throughout the property. Surfing lessons and yoga sessions are also available. Ruschmeyer’s hosts a limited number of special events, including weddings, each summer. What to do Take a surfing lesson, or enjoy a leisurely paddle on a stand up paddle board. What we love

The "nautical summer camp" theme. You will really feel like you are on summer vacation here.

The blend of stylishness and retro cool. Very few places would be able to replicate the special atmosphere.

The fresh seafood and creative cocktails at Ruschmeyer’s Restaurant and the Electric Eel.
