About The Serai

The Serai, Jaisalmer is an amazingly luxurious desert oasis not far from the historic Rajasthani city of Jaisalmer. The inspiration for the Serai came from the opulent caravan encampments used by Rajasthan's royalty throughout history. The grounds here are covered with 21 tented suites. Six suites have heated dip pools and walled private garden areas, while the Royal Suite boasts a private pool and garden, a spa, and separate tents for dining and lounging. Public areas include an expansive pool area, a relaxing bar, and a dining tent where both authentic local specialties and gourmet international dishes are on offer. Alternatively, you can choose to have your meal served in a romantic corner of the Serai's property or even within earshot of the traditional melodies of the local Mang ...

Alternatively, you can choose to have your meal served in a romantic corner of the Serai's property or even within earshot of the traditional melodies of the local Manganiyar musicians, who have been known for their beautiful desert melodies since ancient times. No visit to the Serai would be complete without a stop at the 12th century city of Jaisalmer. A once-booming oasis in the Thar Desert, used as a waystation along the routes that linked India to the famed Silk Road , Jaisalmer is still remarkably well-kept, its sandstone walls providing an ancient atmosphere that has been seducing tourists in this remote corner of India for decades. And then there is the wildlife of the Thar. Game drives in 4x4s (or even on camelback) are possible from the Serai, with highlights including the rare Indian gazelle, one of the many species in this remarkably wildlife-rich desert. What to do Enjoy a safari in the Thar Desert before returning to camp and listening to the classic melodies of the musical Manganiyar tribesmen. Visit the romance-filled ancient city of Jaisalmer. Enjoy a private meal in a quiet corner of the Serai while the sun sets over the desert.
